DAVID FRASER, pictured right with his son, Brent, on their December 2023 book and press tour (aka visiting his family in Ontario and Quebec at Christmas).

David is the middle child of Albert and Alma Fraser and has four siblings: Barry (1947), Jessie (1949), Janice (1953) and Hugh (1957).

“Growing up in the 1950s was a struggle with a meagre cash flow on a dairy farm of only nine  milk cows with not all milking at the same time. However, we always had food on the table with two large vegetable gardens, fruit trees and bushes and a cellar stocked with preserves.

Our family was poor, but so were many other Dundee neighbours in the 1950s, eking out a living, working 7-days a week, milking cows twice daily by hand, haying and cropping in summer, plowing snow and feeding cattle in the barn in winter. Such was the decade prior to my father’s death by suicide in May 1961.

In 1972, David graduated from engineering at Carleton University in Ottawa. He enjoyed a five-decade career as a Professional Civil Engineer, working first in Ottawa and Toronto for 4 years, then 48 with the same consulting firm in the Vancouver, BC region, designing and managing the construction of roads and bridges.
